In light of the advancements in ChatGPT and the rapid development of Artificial Intelligence, I find myself contemplating the future with a mixture of anticipation and apprehension. A thought-provoking video titled “I tried using AI. It scared me” by the esteemed YouTuber, Tom Scott, resonates deeply with these sentiments. It highlights the uncertainties surrounding the path ahead, leaving me pondering the unknown and the potential implications it may hold in the coming months and years. The evolving landscape of AI presents an intriguing yet slightly disconcerting prospect, urging me to stay informed and prepared for any significant shifts that may shape our collective future.
Do changes happen overnight or do they gradually creep in?
“Gradually, then suddenly…” The immortal words of Hemingway echo through time, serving as a poignant reminder of the subtle undercurrents that permeate our daily existence. Yet, when the tides of change finally crash upon the shores of industries, they do so with an abruptness that shakes the very foundations. This paradigm shift presents a pivotal moment, teeming with opportunities for those astute enough to harness and cultivate value and wealth. However, for those who choose to remain on the sidelines, the role of passive consumer of technology becomes their enduring fate. Embracing this juncture with foresight and adaptability holds the key to traversing this transformative era and charting a path towards prosperity.
Interestingly, this sentiment I hold finds itself somewhat not necessarily reciprocated among all audiences. While some remain oblivious to the transformative power of Artificial Intelligence, others treat it as merely a passing fad, akin to the introduction of a new iPhone by Apple. It enjoys its brief moment in the spotlight before fading into the background, with business returning to its usual course. As I reflect on the six months since ChatGPT’s launch in November 2022, I am motivated to establish and nurture this platform. Its purpose is to serve as a constant reminder for me to remain at the forefront of this remarkable changeāa wave of disruption that seldom occurs within a single lifetime, particularly in the ever-evolving landscape of the Tech industry. With steadfast conviction, I endeavor to ride this wave and embrace the profound opportunities it presents.
The reveal…
I wrote the above as an introduction to document my journey to learning AI and with a twist and reveal to illustrate how AI can change the way we leverage technology today in writing styles. The above is a direct example of how AI (ChatGPT in particular) will transform industries. The above was written, or better defined as “refined” by ChatGPT. My original written thoughts is as follows: (All I asked ChatGPT to do was to add 4 words “make it sound better”)
Ever since the explosion of ChatGPT, I have been somewhat been in a state of dread knowing the state of where things are going with the accelerated pace of Artificial Intelligence. The video titled “I tried using AI. It scared me” by YouTuber Tom Scott mirrors to a large extent of this feeling. A mode of that I don’t know of what’s to come, and if I’m constantly missing out on something big, and how it’s going to affect me over the next few months and years.
“Gradually, then suddenly…” the famous words from Hemingway is a reminder of how the turn of events has always been creeping into our daily lives and yet it feels like an abrupt interruption to all industries. The shift poses an opportunity for those who is able to leverage and create value and wealth, while those on the sidelines will continue to become consumers of technology.
This feeling is somewhat not necessarily reciprocated with friends and colleagues. There are those that are oblivious to it, then there are those who are treats it, in my words, just like the introduction of a new iPhone by Apple, it’s there and has made its 15 minutes of fame and now it’s faded, back to business as usual. It’s been 6 months of ChatGPT’s launch in November 2022. The birth and incarnation of this site is to motivate and propel me to ‘stay-on-top’ of this change which I strongly believe is a new wave of disruption that does not happen very often in one’s lifetime, especially in the Tech industry.
The takeaway from this introduction cum pseudo-experiment is:
- AI will improve on what humans can do. Writing and improvement of content creation is one area that is a low hanging fruit with the ChatGPT engine at our disposal. If we choose, it does not take away the original thoughts and ideas. In this case, it helps us express ourselves perhaps a little more eloquently.
How have you leveraged ChatGPT or other tools that have been accessible to the masses today?
